There is nothing you can not do if you don't know you can't do it!
I believe language is a powerful instrument that, when used correctly, can clarify, comfort and cheer. Yet sometimes words cannot adequately portray the emotions inside.
I have come to realize that sometimes one drawing can capture what pages of words cannot. Drawing gives me the opportunity to express my inner self.
It was shortly after my grandmother passed away when I again picked up the pencil. Drawing Grammy helped me remember the spark and spirit in her eyes and smile.
I have been taught 5 important lessons from drawing:
Look at the values;
Maintain balance;
Be aware of the positive as well as the negative space;
Remember to be patient; &
Every now and then step back and take a look at the whole picture.
And isn’t that how we should live each day?
I hope my artwork touches your heart as you see and feel the love and spirit within...
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Evelyn Dean Casey.
I live in Westfield, Massachusetts, USA. Westfield is situated in the Pioneer Valley in Western MA. If you haven't explored this area, do yourself a favor and come visit. Not to sound like a travel brochure, but... The Pioneer Valley, nestled along the Connecticut River, is home to many artisan towns: Westfield, Easthampton, Northampton, Amherst, Shelburne Falls and more.
I started out as a research scientist - electron microscopist to be exact. (Don't fret, it took 4 years of training just to be able to pronounce it.) I mostly spent time in the brain.
